On the Western Front the French gain ground near Souchez and French bombard Munster (Alsace). On the Eastern Front Austro-Germans attack the Grodek line (Galicia) and the Russians retreat. As originally planned, the party complete their preparations and set off upriver in search of Egypt's antiquities. Travelling with them is the American archeologist, Harriet.

Back in Cairo, the AK cult was in trouble many arrests. With rumours of Al Kubrah's death, a source admitted to Sinclair that AK had a burn on his arm. Sinclair spoke to the pathologist who confirms that the body has no 'weave' burns up its arm.
