June 19th (Saturday) Trip down the Nile in luxury river boat (soon to be assigned as a hospital ship on the Tigris!)

On the Western Front the French gain ground near Souchez and French bombard Munster (Alsace). On the Eastern Front Austro-Germans attack the Grodek line (Galicia) and the Russians retreat. In the news Conference at Boulogne between Mr. Lloyd George and M. Albert Thomas, French Under Secretary for War.

As originally planned, the party complete their preparations and set off upriver in search of Egypt's antiquities. Travelling with them is the American archeologist, Harriet.

Back in Cairo, the AK cult was in trouble many arrests. With rumours of Al Kubrah's death, a source admitted to Sinclair that AK had a burn on his arm. Sinclair spoke to the pathologist who confirms that the body has no 'weave' burns up its arm.

Pathologist was based on Sir Sydney Alfred Smith who actually arrived in Cairo in 1917 - see his memoir of the period 'Mostly Murder'
