Meroway has spiky pyramids and was the centre of the Kushite empire. Kushites conquered Egypt after the New Kingdom and before the Babylonians.

Characters with weave sense detected that this was site of massive weave use by black sorcerers. Burn marks of maelstrum magic being cast hundreds of years ago. Sorcerers wiped out by the Islamic spell slayers. The sorcerers retreated back to the source of the power, the Mountains of the Moon, where they became the Black Druids.
After a quick sight-see, they move on.
