Background

Saul grew up in Waterdeep and decided at an early age that the city chaos that surrounded him was wrong. He vowed within himself to bring order and justice to all things with which he involved himself.

His good nature has been derived from his parental-driven religious background. Although he was never a pious and knowledgeable follower of the gods, he took the moral lessons to heart and fundamentally believes that the only solution to evil is the sword.

Career

In line with his structured approach to life, Saul has a career path mapped out in phases.

  1. He thinks of the first stage as more of a trial. He is to mingle with the lower end of society, the pick-pockets, the thieves and the tricksters. This will not only provide him with invaluable intelligence on the local crime scene, but also train him in many valuable social and technical skills. However, he will never forget that subtlety and stealth are tools of evil.
  2. The second stage is where Saul will really shine, and also pay for the lack of piety and book reading of his youth. He will test himself as a Paladin, the most noble and honourable of warriors.
  3. At some point, Saul has chosen to pick up some more pure martial skills. Where a Paladin's life is a balance of religion and combat, he feels the latter is more in need at this time.
  4. Finally, he will join the Order of Illumination and become a Shadowbane Inquisitor within their ranks. Then he will fulfil his destiny of purging evil and bringing order to the world.

Feat descriptions

Dreadful Wrath

You are terrible to behold in battle, and few foes have the heart to face you without quailing.

Prerequisite

Human (Rashemen)

Benefit

When you charge, make a full attack, or cast a spell that either targets an enemy or includes an enemy in its area, you gain the frightful presence ability f6r that round. Each enemy within a 20-foot radius of you must succeed on a Will save (DC 10 + 1/2 your character level + your Cha modifier) or be shaken for 1 minute. Regardless of its success or failure on the saving throw, any creature exposed to this effect is immune to your frightful presence for the next 24 hours. This is an extraordinary morale effect.

Special

You may select this feat only as a 1st-level character. You may have only one regional feat.
