1 Ace Devlin and the Birds of Ave

~~Handed to Fineas in a scruffy note pad, covered in meat grease and candlewax - sorry but the cat tried to eat my homework, sir~~

I am riting this becoz I am not gud at speling or stuff.  Finiarse says I need to improve.

My name is Meg.  I think I am fifteen yrs uld.

I have some friends:  They is Twerk and 'is pig, Blod.  Uncle Tuvold, or Sergeant Grimsson.  The prevsly mentioned Finiarse, a clever bugger, and no mistake.  There is a new friend; a boy culled John the Archer of Ambridge (Grins).   I work for Devlin.  He is gonna be a Prince one day, cos he is clever.  Wen he is, we'll all be rich and famoose too.

We do stuff.  Like before, when we stopped Tyrannas people from doin bad things.  Uncle Tuvold wrote bout that.  I s'ppose that we's adventurereers.

Devlin wz gonna go to a place culled Ava.  The merchants sent him.  He took me, cuz I's (youse full - crossed out) Handy to have about.  He gonna talk about trade with a new blokie in chrge of the Universe city.

Twerk wz gonna go cuz he needed to take sum stuff to a God thingie, like Gaultie (who is a big pig, lik eBlod, who is real sweet like a baby) he had a few fings for her.  I did an inventurry (like a list fing)  I took temperc'nt, cos I done good work, and wz gud not to pinch nothing.

Finiarse comes frm there, so he's come to be a helpful mate.  I finkhe wanted to read sum books too, or summat, but am not sure cuz I dun't mickle understand him.

Uncle Turvold brung John and sum ovvver men to be soljers.  They's luking out for the "Ambas a door", witch is forn for a fat man wot talks lots.  I fink.  And summat 'bout goalrd chocolit.

We went in a (boot bot bote) Ship.  It had 2 sails and sum oars.  Ther wer sum men culled Jack Tar on it.  I fink they weres all brudders or summat.  Twerk wz sick.  I wzn't.  Devlin had bad cockles before we left, and wz sick too.  He wz green, but it wn't the bote.  Then the sailors gave him and Twerk horrid slug seaweed.  It looked like yeuk.  It wz culled puke weed.  It stpped thm sicking up.  Finiarse culled it summat special in forn.  I dun't get it.

I runned in the ropes called rigging.  Then I seed a big turtle.  Big as an island.  Finiarse went to look at it.  Nd fownd sum stuff out, but didn't tell uz so we never looked then.  He culled it sumat special in forn too.  I dun't et that neither.  John of Ambrdige was rite brave and went too.  I did not, cos I cannot swim, and thought it might be bad to have to walk along the bottom to Ave.  and also I fink I mite be ded, witch I dun't want.

So we got there, rite?  Nice plaice.  All perty and towers and stuff.  I wnt shopin wif John and got sum new gear, and found out that this new blokie was not a fave of the merchants but that the bird god thingie chooses them.  All nice.

We went to a party.  It was gud.  They gived us lots to eat and drink.  I wasn't very gud.  I fink I ate somefink bad, cos I was horrid sleepy and then when I woked up I wz sick.  My head did hurt, and I felt qweasy.

Declan wz networkin at this party.  I dunt understand why he took his string and fishing stuff to a party.  But Uncle Torvald said that he wz, so he wz.  I fink that Uncle Torvald is clevererer than he pretends to be.  I fink that he was sweet talking too.  Cuz when I woked we were inthe runnin to send troops to Ave.  Stead of Tyrannas.

Finnearse was in his element, and they met a man who deals with the monie.  They made fiends with him.  Then they went to the --Museum--place where they keeps the cool stuff, and they sawed a amber key and other stuff.

Uncle Torvald was clever, and worked out that there were ad fok from Tyrannas trying to steal stuff from the Mooseam.  So i went to see, and took sum fings that they didn't know they had.  When I was there, I sawed that they had already come and stealed things, and there was a rope already hanging...  But I dun't fink nuffink was gone.  So I guess that sumone wz letting the Pirates in, so as Ave wanted soljers (this meant Tyrannas, probly.)

I told the ovvers.  They siad for me to follow them, and Finneasre and Torvald did tell me where to go.  There is 2 boats coming in and one ging out... Then theys must have already stolen it.

Ave wz ready for the men, and we left some of our body gards to help, becos the pirates had stolen the ruby thingy, and we have to get um.  Finearse did remember this.

We's in our Bote.  And we's sailing.  We worked out where they is going most likelly, and we sail for theres.  Anyways we is gaining and sailing and gaining, and soon we is going to over haul thems, so we began getting ready, and John is shotting things and so is Twrk.

Then a majick machine that flewed took off from the ship we was following, and we sawed that it was flying away.  John did hit it, and so did Twerk and Unckle Torald.  And sum of the others, but it was not going to fall out of the skeye.  In it was the high up blokie from Tyrannas who had stoled the ruby thingy and who had payed the pirates to fight with Ave.

So we forgotted about the mashine witch was flying away, and did the bote instead.  It was not easy, but we did take it, and then we sended it back to Ave, with a prize crew on board to showe them wot the Tyrannas blokie had bin up too.

I did swing in the riggin.  Twerk and Blod did bloody things.  See Twerk, his is bloody.  See Blod, he is bloody.  John is a right good archer, and Uncle Torvold was very impressive.  I think he is a hero.  His sword does go Zummmm zummmm, and it might glow, but I did not see, becoz I wz killin a blokie in the Riggin.  I does know that Devlin was the second wave of the attack, an he is soo cool that whend he came they were beat.

Devlin, Finnearse and Uncle Torvald did decided wheres we'sgoing, becos it seemed most likely from what we knewd.  So again we's sailing and again we's sailing sum mora.  

Then finnearse did see the turtle again, and we all went to have a look see.  There was a sort of door into the turtle and it did open, and we did go down.  There was a rm inside the turtle witch was like to a sitting room with comgy seats and stuff.  There ws a ring, which I did pick up.  I thin that it comes from the ancient people.  I likes there stuff.

Finnearse and Devlin did think that it might be a transpotter (the turtle, not the ring, cos not many peepil could fit on my ring)  They think it was a super fast boat and peepil did travel on it.  Then we got back on our bote.

We gotted to the island, and about half way up a mountain we founded the flying macheen.  It had been flewn into the mountin and was not in gud shape (it did look likke a mashed piece of metal)  But we did find that the man had got out, so we did climp higher into the mountin.

Then we sawed a tower.  It luked like the ruby thingie, just we thought it were bigger, cos it wa sa long ways off.  We decided that we ws going to there.  So we did make double tme.

Whens we gotted to the tower we was suprised by how big it wz.  And steep.  And there were some really cool looking birds right at the top, hanging over, like gargoyles.  And there was a massive gem too, which was gonna be too big for my pockets.  I fink that they thought we might have a hard time getting up the top of it, but that wz were the stuff wz going on.  So we climbed.  First it was easy, but then it got harder.  It was almost a perpendickular thing.  I wasn't too bothered but some of the others were.

Eventually we found a lift.  At the top of the lift wz a guard.  Then the guard was at the bottom of the lift.  Shouldn't have stood so close tot the edge.  I coulda tole him that.  I watched him go down in the basket and the others came up.

So up here there is a wooden scaffolding.  And a control thing.  And a lot of people with swords and stuff.  The Tyrannarse is there.  He is being boss like.  Finnearse has said that this is a weapon, which can burn down cities from a long ways aways.  We dunt really want the tryans to have that so, we's stopping them.

John climbed onto the scaffold to get a good place to shoot from, but he isn't good at climbing like wot I am.  Twerk, who had had to leave poor old Flowerface behimd, co pigs climb even wore than John, and Uncle Torvald and Declan all pile in.  there was lot of fighting, and it looked like the bloke was gonna put hte ruby thing in the controller.

I sawed this, and did try to stop him by swinging on a rope and putting my knife in the slot instead.  It was a dum thing to do, and I am very very sorry.  I thought that it would just make it more difficult for him to get his key in, but it had a rather different affect.

The whole tower begun to rumber and shake.  The Tyrannical bloke looked most perturbed.  Then the tower begun to fire all over the place and no one had any control of it, and it was gonna go.

But there was Finnearse.  Clever man, he saw that the great birds on the top of the tower were escape pods, and that they would fly us away from the danger.  So we all piled into the two o them, and somehow we managed to fly them down to earth.

Then we wented home.
