Did have advanced tech but civilisation has collapsed. Unable to repair or understand machinery. Duct tape is the most commonly used commodity.
No longer has a moon – destroyed by civilisation. Has a ring of asteroids which periodically crash onto the planet.
No centralised government – think Firefly.
Poles are fairly clear and are only places on planet where trading posts set up. Rest of planet filled with nomads. No radio/satellite communication – too much interference. Pony express is communication. Nomads are family groups all moving around as lots of asteroids crashing into planet.
